A funny thing happened on the way to the goalmouth
5 Players Diego Maradona Dribbled Past On His Way To Scoring His Second Goal In The 1986 World Cup Quarter Final Against England
1. Glenn Hoddle
2. Peter Reid
3. Kenny Sansom
4. Terry Butcher
5. Terry Fenwick
As Barry Davies said at the time: "You have to say that's magnificent".
ReplyDeleteI see Shilton in that picture too lying on the ground looking back. Did Maradona dribble past him too, or was Shilton just admiring the view?
ReplyDeleteCrackin' goal right enough.
I think Shilton was lying on the ground when Maradona picked the ball up on the half-way line...
ReplyDeleteMuch as you have to respect Shilton for his long service, etc, he was getting past it by the 86 World Cup. This was a 6 foot tall man outjumped by the 5 feet 5 inch tall Maradona for the first goal in that quarter final. Ho hum...
Technically he was 5 feet 5 inch, plus arm and fist.
ReplyDeleteI got chipped once at 5-a-side from 2 yards out. It happens to all the greats!
Lol! It probably happened to me in a five-a-side match too once upon a time, but my hypnotherapist helped me to blank that one out for the sake of my future sanity...
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame Shilton didn't use *his* arm and fist too. :(
shouldn't Fenwick be listed twice?
ReplyDeletelol... Yes, I suppose so!!
